Hi (merhaba) everybody!
My name is Ezgi Gulec and I am an international student from Istanbul (no, it is not the capitol), Turkey. However, I have been living in Topeka since I was 16, so I consider myself a Kansan (I am definitely Americanized by now)! I came to Topeka (long story on why Topeka) back in 2004 as an exchange student and had a great experience overall, so I decided to continue on with my American dream. I am a super senior as college life had its ups and downs for me but I am now getting closer to the finish line and will be graduating by May 2014 at the latest! I like to have fun in general. I love travelling, learning new languages and meeting new people, singing, dancing, swimming, taking long walks by the lake/beach, watching movies and talent shows, helping people, guiding and inspiring people…
I believe that Mass Media major as well as Communication minor suits me well because I am such a people-oriented person and interacting with people is one of the main fuels that gets me going in my daily life. We all know how huge the social media is, but I will admit that I prefer one-on-one interaction over having a facebook/twitter account as they can get overwhelming and sometimes highly distracting. One of the things I’d like to learn in this class is how to use social media like facebook professionally and to my benefit. I’d also like to get in the habit of writing more blogs. I only have 1 blog from last semester on my Blogger when I attempted to take the class then, but had to drop. I am sticking to it this time around!
